Paul Fitzpatrick has worked regularly with the BuildSpace team over the last 12 years. So when he took up the position of Construction Director at Od Group, he turned to us first for white collar talent.
Od Group specialise in interior fit-outs for clients in the commercial fit out, R&D, healthcare and higher education sectors of the construction industry. I joined the business as Construction Director in 2018, and now head up a team of around 45 permanent and freelance white collar workers.
Having worked with the BuildSpace guys in previous roles, I felt confident introducing them as a recruitment partner for the Interiors division.
Why BuildSpace?
When I started with Od Group, I knew I would be developing and expanding the current team. It was important to me that any recruiter I introduced would put sensible people forward for upcoming roles. I needed to rely on them to find candidates that work within our organisation, fitting seamlessly into our culture.
Over the years, I’d built a good relationship with the guys at BuildSpace. They already know what I want, the sort of people I like to work with and what I expect from a manager. It took away a lot of uncertainty when joining the business.
Our relationship
While I’ve traditionally turned to BuildSpace for freelance roles, they have picked up some of our perm needs as well. I’ve always been impressed by their speed, accuracy and ability to find the right candidates – regardless of the type of project.
They’re approachable, understanding, and if there’s a problem or a change we need to make, I feel certain they’ll get it sorted. You can tell that their internal systems and procedures work because they consistently get the right results, and in a timely manner.
What’s more, it’s good to know that I can pick up the phone about resourcing projects, whether or not they come off. The team are professional, knowledgeable and care about what they do – they genuinely add value to my project teams.
Looking ahead
This year, we’re focusing on how we can deliver better results for our clients – which makes recruitment all the more important.
